Main rural activities that you will be able to practice.
In the surroundings of the Rural Houses Picachico you will be able to enjoy infinity of activities outdoors:
❤ Trekking in Almería. ❤
❤ Way for Lazy people:
: Let me call it that, but it is unforgivable to leave Picachico without taking this walk. Even if you don’t like rural activities, even if you don’t feel like getting out of the jacuzzi, even if you only bring heels, even if you bring a baby…
From your house, you go to Laroya, at the end of the village behind the church are the sports courts. Well, just below there is a narrow path that you have to follow without going up or down, without making any effort you will reach the Balsa del Común, Juan García’s Flour Mill and the river, passing through the Charcón del Buey.
You can go back the same way so as not to spend too many calories. The duration of these rural activities is approximately 40 minutes.
❤ Climb to Corral de Marcos:
From your house, go out to the road, you will see the cemetery, you have to climb over it, once the slope is finished, you will see on your left that there is a small dirt road, so you leave the asphalt and walk through the land until you reach a farm in ruins, that is the farmhouse of my great-great-grandfather, it is the Corral de Marcos, there Father Pedro had his vines to make his own wine and now you will have a nice surprise. In these rural activities you can walk among its centenary olive trees, among almond trees, thyme and brooms, on your right you can contemplate the Almanzora Valley, Macael, Olula del Río, Fines, the Albox Wadi, Sierra de las Estancias, Somontín, Urrácal, Lúcar, Sierra del Cabezo de Murcia, in front of Las Canteras de Macael…
Duration of this type of rural activities approximately 1 hour, and whatever you want to throw if you keep going up to the beehives.
❤ Way of Los Molinos PR-A 366
Circular path of 10km or 7. 50km if we do the short version of the Sendero del Bosque. Approximate travel time: 3h 30 minutes. In these rural activities, we manage to climb up to a height of 1,170m, so we have a difference in level of 470 m in ascent and the same amount in descent.
This path starts from the sports tracks. This rural activity will allow us to contemplate the remains of old flour mills, which carried out an important work in the daily life of the area, as well as some of the threshing floors, equally essential for the agricultural activity of the village. The path coincides with an old section of the GR-143, which runs from María to Almería. The tour has interesting natural viewpoints and the first part is what I call the Caminillo del Vago. Don’t miss it!
❤ Way of PR-A 172 REUL ALTO – Rural Activities
Circular path almost 14 km long with a drop of 700 meters and duration of approximately 5 hours. In the sports courts you have the first signposting. Be careful with the indicative posts as some points coincide with the GR 143 and the PR 366.
In the cortijada of Reul Alto you cannot leave without drinking water in La Fuente, in the Piedra Juan Felipe, you will be at 1,500 meters of altitude and if you have a clear day you can see the mouth of the river Almanzora in Villaricos, Sierra Maria, La Sagra and the whole Almanzora Valley. Without a doubt, it stands out among the other rural activities.
For all rural activities we recommend appropriate footwear, comfortable clothing, use of cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, always carry water, rarely raincoat but you can not miss a camera.
